About Our Services

Skin analysis and consultation are built into every facial treatment. Looking closely at your skin under the light and touching it is the best way to really get an accurate sense of your skin. Products and approaches are chosen for you at your appointment based on where your skin is at in time, based on a variety of factors such as the changing of the seasons, etc. However, if you feel that you would like a more in-depth skin analysis and consultation either proceeding or independent of a treatment, please reach on the contact page via the form provided, and we would be happy to set up a 15 minute appointment with you free of charge. You will be contacted either through your email or your phone number provided to set up an in-person, virtual, or phone appointment.

Sugaring Hair Removal

Sugaring is an alternative hair removal technique adopted from cultures in the Middle East that have been practicing it for centuries, having it handed down to them by the ancient Egyptians. That said, it is certainly the original form of waxing.

100% natural, sugar paste is made up of biodegradable ingredients of just sugar, water, and lemon. The warm taffy-like paste is molded onto the skin, penetrating into the hair follicle and attaching to the unwanted hair. With a swift flick of the wrist, the hair is removed in the direction of growth.

Sugar paste only adheres to dead skin cells, not live ones, so there is never any risk of burning or lifting of the skin.

Sugaring is gentle on the skin and is an especially wise hair removal choice for sensitive skin. It significantly reduces the risk of ingrown hairs, does not leave the skin red, scaly or irritated post treatment, and many report that it is less painful than other forms of hair removal.

Sugaring is also an environmentally friendly choice. The paste is water-soluble and biodegradable, non-staining, and there are no sticks or strips to throw away. Gloves made with biodegradable cellulose are used to further eliminate waste impact.

Melodee has been practicing professional body sugaring for over 19 years and is proud to use Tamara’s Professional Certified Organic Sugar, a women-owned premier professional-grade sugar paste made locally in South Seattle.

*An average frequency of sugaring treatment for optimal maintenance is within a 4-6 week window.

Acupuncture Rejuvination Facial

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a method of treating primarily the face with acupuncture needles. One of the main mechanisms of acupuncture needles in facial rejuvenation is that they stimulate the physiological process of epidermal cell turnover. When we are in our 20s the cell turnover rate is about 28 days, and the turnover rate gets longer in duration as we age. Over the course of a 28-day cycle, in the first two weeks new cell divisions occur in the stratum basal, which is the deepest layer of the epidermis. In the final two weeks desquamation occurs, and the cells mature, lose their nucleus, and eventually shed from the skin’s surface. The buildup of these dead skin cells can cause the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to appear deeper. This can also lead to clogged pores, black heads, white heads, and acne. Other factors that may disturb or slow down cell turnover include: hormonal imbalances, sun damage, and chronic health conditions.

By creating micro injuries to the subcutaneous tissues such as the dermis and epidermis, facial acupuncture helps to regulate and shorten the duration of the cell turnover rate. This increase in cell turnover rate, promotes the sloughing off of dead skin cells more quickly, which stimulates fresh blood and oxygen in the affected or treated areas, and revitalizes the metabolism of the skin. These micro injuries also stimulate the productivity of collagen and elasticity, which leads to increased moisture and tightness of the skin.

Effects include increased circulation of blood and lymph, increased production of collagen and elastin, improved skin texture, reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and hyperpigmentation. Treatments may also alleviate symptoms associated with chronic headaches or migraines, TMJD, and bruxism (night grinding).

A Note On Face Coverings

Estheticians at Ode wear a mask during all services. This choice makes good sense and is one simple step that can easily be taken as a basic precaution to help keep everyone healthy. It is your choice whether to wear a face covering for lash, brow, or some sugaring services (with the exception of lip/chin/jawline). Of course it is not necessary for you to wear a face covering during a facial service, but given that we spend considerable time close to your face, we always do. Please reach out to reschedule your appointment if you are not feeling well.
